Happy Birthday, Joshupants!

Four years ago today at exactly 9 a.m., my baby Joshua entered this world. He was small and warm and breathtakingly beautiful. We immediately nicknamed his “Joshupants” and we still call him that! He has brought so much joy to my life – Bobby and I don’t know what we ever did without him! He was always the sweetest baby and he is still a super-sweet boy. I am so very proud of him, and I cannot believe that four years have passed since I became his mom! I love that he is so much fun now, so smart and so hilarious, but I long for the days when he babbled and chattered and sang “Who Are the People In Your Neighborhood” all day long without embarrassment, and didn’t know that he could tell me “no” or talk back!

But time marches on…so if you will, indulge me and take a moment to go back and read, or read for the first time if you are new here, some of “Joshua’s Greatest Hits”, if you will – some of my favorite Joshua moments that I’ve blogged about!

There’s the one where he spelled a dirty word with magnetic letters (unintentionally I swear!), the one where he said my arm fat looked like, well, something very embarrassing, the one where he emptied out the mall playplace, and my personal favorite, the one where he made me throw in the towel on potty training!

Hope you all enjoy “Joshua’s Greatest Hits” – I enjoyed being there while he was making them! I can’t wait to see what else my funny boy will do. Happy Birthday Joshua, I love YOU and I love being your Mommy!

  1. HAPPY BIRTHDAY JOSHUA!!!! Well, there is the time just about two years ago when Jenny and I were re-united and met each others children for the first time at a local restaurant. I did not get to see first hand, but as Jenny and Joshua scurried across the parking lot, Joshuas pants fell down….I can only imagine the look on Jenny’s face!

  2. I am so glad you didn’t nickname him Joshy and I had to buy him a dress. I am sure he’ll thank me for that later in time. Joshupants sounds so much better than Joshudress.

We miss you lots, Joshua! Hope to see you soon.

  3. Happy Birthday Joshua! One of my favorite memories of Joshua was the day he ventured off of the couch at my house – where he was overwhelmed by his then only 6 cousins :). He began jumping off of the “rocks” around the fireplace, running across the room and jumping onto the couch. He laughed, and yelled “ready, set, go!” with his cousins. I hope to have MANY more memories of he and his cousins playing like that as they get bigger. Maybe they will even get into trouble everyonce in a while. After all what are boys for? 😉 We love you Joshua!

  4. I love Joshua so much. One of the most fun things is to see how excited he gets about trains- seeing a real one or getting a new toy one. He also loves to see “downtown ” tall buildings when we are in the car and the Bell Tower at a local park. He is quietly exuberant and his sister is noisily exuberant – exuberance is great, either way.

  5. I have been thinking about it all day and have finally decided that my favorite memory of Joshua was trick-or-treating when he and Kate were about 2 1/2. It was the first time we had taken them door-to-door (rather than just dressing them up and handing out candy at our house) and the looks on their faces when they figured out that all these people were going to give them candy were PRICELESS. I also loved how they went up to the first door together, very nervously, holding hands.

My other favorite memory of him is the stage where he would burst into tears when Kate entered the room. But don’t worry, they’ve moved past that!

Happy birthday Joshua! It makes me so sad and so happy that you are four years old.
