Greyhound Dreams

I am very fortunate to have a little boy who is, at five, still a really great snuggler. Yesterday we were snuggling on the couch together when he looked up at me with his big blue eyes and said sweetly, “I love you, Mommy.”

My heart melted. “I love you too, baby boy.” I said. “And I love being your mommy. It’s my favorite thing to be.”

He beamed up at me.

“What’s your favorite thing to be?” I asked him. I could already hear his response. “Your baby boy!” he’d say sweetly.

He thought for a second, then smiled his sweet mama’s boy smile.

“A bus driver!”

*Sigh*. A girl just can’t compete with public transit these days.

Top Ten {Tuesday}: BlogHer Things I’m Excited About

Photobucket

Today I’m linking up with our friend Amanda from OhAmanda.com and her Top Ten {Tuesday}. BlogHer ’09 is right around the corner and Jenny and I are pumped. Here are the Top Ten things I’m excited about (at this moment. Subject to change 359 times between now and next Thursday), in no particular order.

1. The Luncheon – OHio Style, hosted by our very own Amy in OHio, at Dick’s Last Resort. I’m super excited about this luncheon not only because I’ll be surrounded by 75 of my closest current and soon-to-be BFFs, but also because I’m dragging my husband along and can’t wait to hear what the not-so-courteous staff at Dick’s has to say to the only man sitting within a group of 75 women.

2. Dinner with the Fab 15 and our fab guests at Carnivale, courtesy of Only in a Woman’s World and Frito Lay. I’ve already got the drink menu memorized.

3. Going out on the town with Andy on his birthday… we’re still trying to decide where to go to dinner, so if you have suggestions, throw them my way!

4. Partying with mah girls from Room 704.

5. Spending the weekend with my virtualturnedinreallife BFFs.

6. Reuniting with the Magical Moms.

7. Meeting people who I feel I’ve known for years for the first time.

8. Having someone make my bed for me. (And seriously, the beds at the Sheraton? I am hoping one will be included in the swag bag.)

9. The intellectual discussions about how to advance my blog and myself through SEO, creatives, affiliate marketing and all avenues of social media. (Did anyone buy that? I didn’t either. I copied it from Amy.)

and last, but certainly not least… (and not really even last – I could go on, but it’s called Top TEN Tuesday, not top 359 Tuesday)…

10. Jenny and me sporting our amazing new wardrobe from Lands End, our fantastic BlogHer sponsor.

So there you have it. Needless to say, we are a little excited about our upcoming trip. We’ll try not to be toooo geeky about it for the next couple weeks, we promise. But you know us, so you know how much stock to put in that statement!

What I Did on my Summer Vacation

Well I’m back from the beach, home from my mom-cation, my getaway, my time alone. And it was great! By Saturday night, I was really missing my family BAD, though. I guess absence really does make the heart grow fonder. But anyhow, now that I am back in the bosom of my loving family, allow me to give you a full report on what I did on my summer vacation.

1) Got several new tan lines and hundreds of new freckles

2) Ate breakfast overlooking the ocean on my balcony

3) Ate a lot of meals alone in the hotel restaurant while tweeting on my lovely Vivienne Tam HP Mini

4) Watched not one, not two, but three couples get married Saturday night on the beach, a few hundred feet apart from one another

5) Took a GIANT three-hour nap

6) Forgot to put the cup under the one-cup coffee maker, resulting in my coffee making itself all over the side table in my hotel room. Oops.

7) Watched a fair amount of cable. DO you know they have a show on TLC called “I didn’t know I was pregnant”? Have you ever SEEN that show?? GAH!! Unbelievable!!

8 ) Took some great walks on the beach

9) Read three and a half books

10) Missed my babies

IT was a wonderful trip…thanks to my sweet hubby for sending me away, and welcoming me back home!
