Share Your Breakfast!

share your breakfast pop tart

Why yes, that IS me eating a Pop Tart.  I loooove them.  And while I am usually a cereal kind of girl, some mornings you just need a special treat.  So this morning, I had me one!  And then, I shared my breakfast with Kellogg’s at their Share Your Breakfast web site.  I uploaded this very hawt picture of myself to ShareYourBreakfast.com. Why?  Well, obviously because it is a very gorgeous picture and could not be kept from the world.  Duh.  But ALSO, because for every breakfast shared at ShareYourBreakfast.com, Kellogg’s will donate the monetary equivalent of a school breakfast to Action for Healthy Kids, a non-profit organization that focuses on childhood obesity and malnourishment.  One way they combat these problems is by providing funding to school districts  to expand or initiate school breakfast programs.

So how can YOU Share Your Breakfast?  It’s super-easy!  Just upload a photo of your breakfast at ShareYourBreakfast.com. You don’t even have to be in the photo if you don’t want!  Or, you can even text your photo and the word “Share” to 21534.  Kellogg’s hopes to meet their goal of donation 1 million breakfasts to Action for Healthy Kids!! You can share your breakfast once a day, every day, through July 31, 2011.

Personally, I LOVE this program.  Sophie, along with every other child at her school, receives a free breakfast at school.  It’s great for families who struggle to put food on the  table, and it’s great for my Sophie because she is a very picky eater but the breakfast menu at school is very varied and she is constantly introduced to new foods – something that it can be difficult for me to accomplish at home.

Want to find out more?  I hope you’ll join me and some other great bloggers, as well as Trinh Le from Kellogg’s and Dr Reginald Washington, chairman of the board of Action for Healthy Kids, for a “Virtual Breakfast” chat on theMotherhood.com tomorrow, March 1, from 11:30-12:00 noon EST.  You can RSVP for AND attend the talk  at this link here.  I hope you’ll join us!

Whether you can make the chat or not, please go to ShareYourBreakfast.com as often as you think of it, and tell your family and friends to share their breakfasts as well!  Let’s give some school kids a nutritious, free start to their day!

Seven.

Seven years ago today I became a mother.  And here it is, 10:20 p.m. The party is long over, and I’m half-past exhausted, but I had to take a minute just to say how thankful I am for that baby boy.  Who now does not at ALL resemble a baby!  My big guy.

I had a difficult experience when Joshua was born.  In fact, I don’t even really like to talk about it.  Bobby and I agree that it was at the time, the best day and the worst day of our lives all at the same time.  But God is good, and each year I lose more of the bad memories and feel more of the joy of that day.  Of the first time I knew what it meant to risk, and to love without expecting anything in return.  And the truth is, I’d do it 100 times over if I had to, because I got a healthy, amazing, sweet, smart little boy out of the deal.

To my Joshua, I love you baby boy.  You are everything I could have hoped for in a son.  And I will always love you with my whole heart, no matter what.  I couldn’t possibly be prouder of you, my sweetheart.  I love being your mommy.

Ralph Lauren Create-Your-Own Polo giveaway!

As I may have mentioned a few times, I’ve been working with Mom Central Consulting as a Ralph Lauren Mom Ambassador for the past few months.  To wrap up this program, I’m reviewing and giving away one of their Create-Your-Own kids’ polo shirts!

The polo is of course, an iconic Ralph Lauren item, and with the create-your-own option, you can add monogramming to make it even more special! Ralph Lauren allowed me to create one for review, and I had one monogrammed for Emily’s daughter, Kate. It is adorable! It’s the perfect combination of classic yet unique style.

Would you like to create your own polo for your little one?  You can enter here to win!  Simply leave me a comment on this post telling me who you’d create your polo for.  One winner will be chosen at random on Friday, March 5th at 6 pm.

Good luck!
