Giveaway: Motorola Droid Bionic

Jenny & I are wrapping up our time as Verizon Wireless Midwest Moms, but before we go, we have one last giveaway – a Motorola Droid Bionic. And not just any Droid Bionic – the very one I’ve been trying out for the last few months. Goldfish crumbs from the bottom of my purse included! Don’t worry, the Verizon people will wipe away my digital footprint on it, and hopefully my kids’ fingerprints as well.

The Bionic is equipped to handle the Verizon Wireless 4Glte network, which is really noticeably faster than 3G (like, a lot). 4Glte is available in 190 cities and 118 major airports, and it is expanding rapidly. Click here to see if it’s available near you.

A couple things to note about this giveaway – the giveaway is for the phone, not service. The Bionic only works on Verizon Wireless, and it requires a data plan. And, like I said, it’s the one I’ve been playing with so it’s slightly used.

Lands’ End at the Office – Staying Warm

We are pretty solidly in the middle of winter, and here in Ohio at least, that means one thing – it is really frappin’ cold.

When I head out to work in the morning, I want to be dressed professionally, of course, but I also want to make sure I’ll stay warm throughout the day. Dropping off/picking up two kids in two locations, going back and forth between buildings… I manage to get out in the cold a lot, so keeping myself toasty is a tall order.

We know to turn to Lands’ End for outerwear that is incredibly warm (I love the LE parka I bought a couple of years ago), but it’s also a great place to look for… innerwear? Underwear? Uh, regular clothes that will keep you warm as well.

Here’s what I mean.

This sweater is perfect for work.

It’s soft – a combination of cotton and cashmere – and has a very nice fit. The rib-knit trim adds nice detail. It comes in a lot of colors – I personally have the Fern Green Heather pictured above as well as the Deep Amethyst Heather (hey if I find something I love, I like to have multiples!).

It’s nice to have something underneath, though, to add a layer of warmth. The Feminine Silk Camisole is perfect.

It’s light and breathable and holds in body heat while wicking away moisture.

The cami also has a partner, the Feminine Silk Crop Pants.

Made from the same material as the cami, these are great to wear under dress pants, like these, for example.

.

Lands’ End’s new chinos are, well, perfect. I love them so much. I have a black pair and a steel gray pair (back to that finding something that works thing…). They are extremely comfortable and look great. They’ll even hem them for free.

But back to the outfit at hand!

As I said, I’m in and out a number of times throughout the day, sloughing through snow to get where I’m going. I need snow boots, but I’m not ready to wear my puffy 1980s puffy plastic ones to work. Fortunately, Lands’ End saves the day with Weatherfield Boots.

These boots are perfect – they’re easy to put on (I love the toggles!), water-resistant and warm. They’ve got a 200-gram brushed tricot insulated lining – I don’t know what that is, exactly, but it means they are WARM. The sturdy rubber midsole make them functional as well. Check out the traction on those babies! They’re ideal for women on the go.

Lands’ End will keep you warm – from your cami to your parka!

Lands’ End – Looks that Last

As I’ve been writing about Lands’ End outfits in the last couple of months, I’ve focused on the versatility of their clothing. From the office to kids’ activities to date nights, they’ve got you covered. That goes for holiday parties as well, of course, but like I’ve said before – as women, we’re not likely to buy an outfit that serves only one purpose. We want things we can wear again and again. Here’s an example of an outfit that’s perfect for the Christmas season, but will transfer well to the rest of winter as well.

We’ll start with the Women’s Regular Long Sleeve Cable Turtleneck Dress.

Isn’t it pretty? It also comes in black, but I just love the Rich Red. It’s made from merino wool, which is soft and comfortable (and not scratchy at all). The cable knit adds a lovely design, without being bulky. I love this dress – it really looks and feels great.

It’s a great choice for a Christmas party… you could even add the Tartan Plaid Flower Pin for a little added festiveness (is that a word? Probably not, but you know what I mean. Festivity? Not sure. Anywho…)

But wait!

Want to wear it to the office in January? Belt it and wear black pumps, like in the picture above. Perfect.

OR, you could dress it down slightly and go with this look:

I love this so much, I can’t even describe it.

Put a white No Iron Pinpoint Cotton Shirt underneath…

Add tights, a belt, and slip on the Elizabeth Mid Heel Boot

And there you go. One dress, three looks.

Love it.
