Revlon Tools money-maker at Rite Aid!

Oh my gosh! I am actually posting about my shopping trip! MIRACLE!  I REALLY miss posting about my shopping trips, but sadly it’s one of the things I’ve had to give up since having baby #3. I am TRYING to get back to it, though.  I am still coupon shopping every week, I just haven’t been able to post about my sweet deals.  However, today I decided I was going to give myself the gift of posting about this no matter what.  So, here goes.

There is an awesome money-maker deal at Rite Aid on Revlon beauty tools. If you buy 2, you get $4 +UP Rewards!  No matter how much the tools cost!  I bought a set of emery boards and some nail clippers. They were priced at $1.25 and $1.45 but rang up and 75 and 87 cents.  And I got the $4 +UP!  No coupons needed! WOW!  If I haven’t had the baby with me, I would have gone back and gotten more.  Not sure what the limit is on this deal.

Here’s what I got today:

Crest toothpaste $2.99

Oral B toothbrush $2.99

Fusion ProGlide power razor $9.99

Rite Aid allergy meds for kids (generic Zyrtec) $8.99

Revlon emery boards $.75

Revlon nail clippers $.87

total = $26.58

coupons

-$3/$15 Rite Aid coupon I got for taking a survey (look for this offer on the bottom of your Rite Aid receipt)

-$1.50 Crest toothpaste today’s P&G

-$1.50 Oral B toothbrush today’s P&G

-$4 Fusion today’s P&G

-$14 +UP Rewards from last week

=$2.58 + $1.65 tax = $4.23

and I got back $13 +UP Rewards!!! 4 for the Revlon tools, 5 for the Fusion razor, and 2 each for the Crest and Oral B.

WOOT!  Hoping to go back and get some more Revlon tools maybe tomorrow.

What did YOU get at Rite Aid this week??

Royally Social

Once upon a time, there was a beautiful princess named Jenny.  Well, actually, there was a nerdy 7th grader named Jenny.  Who was obsessed with the royal families of Europe.  For a couple of years.  Give or take a few. Who may or may not have wanted to scratch Camilla’s eyes out when all that shizzle hit the fizzan.

And who may have gotten up at 4 a.m.on my 20th birthday to watch Princess Diana’s funeral.  Even though she had a bunch of college girlfriends sleeping over.

*Ahem*

But now, I’ve morphed into a super-busy, half-crazy, live-in-a-bubble mom.   I see very little news, I never watch real tv, just TiVo or Netflix.  Truth be told, I get most of my news from Facebook.  {the shame!}

So it barely even registered when Prince William and Kate Middleton announced their engagement a few months ago. And it really crept up on me this week that the wedding, is, well in a few hours.  Probably good and over by the time you read this!  So tonight I’ve been trying to “catch up” really quickly on all the news and plans and schedules (because if the baby wakes me up at 4:30 a.m., I might get up and watch.  But if not, then NO. That is what the aforementioned TiVo is for.)  And what I’ve found has bloooown  my MIND.

The British Royal Family has gone all Social Media on us. They’re like, “with it” and stuff.

There is an official Royal Wedding 2011 website.  And an official British Monarchy Royal Wedding “Share Your Stories” Facebook App.  And a Flickr stream. And a You Tube Channel where you can watch live, or better yet upload your own video message to the happy couple.  And of course, there’s a Royal Wedding twitter.  With hashtag #royalwedding.

Well, on this Royal Wedding eve, I must say, thanks to the savvy British Monarchy for helping me catch up on all the wedding details via social media.  I am very impressed!  For an institution steeped in tradition, you’re working this whole wedding thing pretty hard in a pretty modern way. {Insert British congratulatory phrase here.}  Well done!   And now, I may just get up at 4:30 whether the baby wakes me up or not!

The Horrors of the Warm-Weather Cold

Today, it FINALLY stopped raining.  Hall-LE-lu-JAH!  It has been raining cats and dogs for over a week and for a few days there I was pretty gloomy about this wet, wet, wet spring. The kids and I have hardly gotten to be outside at all so far this season!

So, today, when the sun shone, my mood REALLY brightened.  A literal light at the end of the tunnel.

And then I got a runny nose.

NOOOO!!!

You see, there is NOTHING that will spoil spring and summer more than a warm-weather cold. They are the WORST.  I would rather be sick during actual “cold and flu season” when it’s miserable outside anyways than be totally laid up with a bad cold while it’s absolutely gorgeous outside!   I even wrote a post about this a couple of years ago when both Joshua and Sophie were sick with colds the better part of July and it nearly killed ME.

So needless to say, as soon as I started feeling a little cold-ish, I ran for my medicine cabinet to see what immune system-boosting product I might have available to start chugging immediately!

But if that doesn’t work, at least I know I can get relief – even in the spring and summer – from my old pal Vicks VapoRub.  I always have it around and since it has menthol and eucalyptus in it, it’s always has that nice cooling sensation!  Nothing’s more comforting to me when I have a cold than Vicks VapoRub – no matter the season.  It really does help relieve my cough, and I always use it on my kids, too – because I have found in my experience that there is pretty much no other safe and effective cough remedy for kiddos.

And if you’re lucky enough to be spared the dreaded warm-weather cold, you can take advantage of Vicks VapoRub for it’s other intended use – if you’re out there being active and you’ve overdone it, you can rub Vicks on your sore muscles for temporary relief from aches and pains.  It’s true!

So tell me – which one do you think is worse – a cold-weather cold or a warm-weather cold?
