The Poop of Terror

So, not to go on and on and on and ON about potty training, buuut…Sophie’s doing really good. I pretty much consider her trained.  She has yet to have an accident in public anywhere.  This weekend we spent a day and night at my father-in-law’s and did not bring either her little potty or her potty ring to sit on, and she had no trouble. She’d just go into the bathroom and yell “POOOTTEEEEEEE” until one of us came and helped her get on the toilet.  I was SO proud.  And I AM so proud of her.

BUT.  Or should I say “BUTT”.

Sophie has, like her brother before her, developed a fear of going poop in the potty.  Why? I have no idea! What causes this?  She was really doing just FINE with poop in the beginning, albeit there were a couple of times that took her for-ev-er to squeeze the deuce out.  But then, about 10 days ago or so, she started trying to hide and sneak poops past us.  And to add to the fun, she’s made herself constipated. (Also just like her brother!)

Her most preferred pooping place is during her “rest time” or nap in her room.  I think she’s gone to sleep and then 10 minutes later she’s calling for me ’cause she’s got junk in her trunk.  Last night she did this for the first time at bedtime instead of nap time, and it was fun cleaning her up after I’d already gone to bed.  BUT(T) she wasn’t done yet.  This morning she woke up with a full load in her TRAINING PANTS and it was deees-gusting.  Yuck.  I forgot how gross cleaning all the poo out of girl parts is.

With Joshua, I found that the only thing to do was wait this out.  That, and sneak prune juice and flaxseed into anything I could to help him have to go.  And since I’m confident Sophie won’t feel relaxed enough to poop her pants at preschool, I’m not stressing about it. BUT(T) I’d appreciate any tips you all might have about scooting past this stage sooner rather later!

Quick Rite Aid Run

DSC02198

We were in a desperate battery situation today. Between our Wii controllers and Sophie’s VTech V.Reader, we were going thru them like crazy! I love the V. Reader, but it eats through about 4 batteries every 2 days if your kid loves it as much as my Sophie loves hers. So I decided to just go and get some rechargeables and a charger today and since I had some +UP rewards to spend at Rite Aid, and hadn’t been there yet this week, that’s where I went. I got:
Duracell charger with batteries: $21.99 reg price, $19.79 with my wellness + discount

Biotrue contact solution $4.99 reg price, $4.49 with my wellness + discount

Crest with Scope Outlast $2.69

total= $26.97

Coupons: $5/$25 Rite Aid printable

75 cents off Duracell from P&G insert

$2 off Biotrue printable

75 cents off Crest from P&G insert

total = $18.47

paid with 7 +UP rewards, and piad $11.47+$1.54 in tax = $13.01 and I’ll get back $6.69 in Single Check Rebates, $4 for the Biotrue and $2.69 for the Crest.  So my net expense was $6.62 for all that. 🙂

Did you go to Rite Aid this week?

Things I Love Thursday: A Modern Eden

I like A Modern Eden
Moi with my A Modern Eden Winston the Owl shirt, which I purchased with my ooooowwwwn mooooney!

This is a review and giveaway (Stay tuned to win!!) that I’m thrilled to do because I LOVE the product and I KNOW the people behind it! The creators of A Modern Eden are the great guys at FORGE, hosts and sponsors of both our May Mom’s party and this upcoming Ultimate Mom’s Night Out July 29th. These are great people making cool stuff!  And it’s (well, I don’t know if they want me to say pretty so I’ll say) aesthetically pleasing as well!   A Modern Eden is a brand alive with cool, beautiful animal characters like Presley the Peacock, seen here in this gee-orgeous poster they sent me for review:

If Presley is a little feminine for you, perhaps you might prefer Webster the Frog:

Or Henry the Lion:

I love the Presley the Peacock poster. This is a great quality poster.  It’s not like the paper-thin glossy ones of Debbie Gibson and New Kids on the Block I had hanging in my bedroom in the 6th grade *ahem*.  The colors are vibrant and all these designs will really turn your kids’ rooms into the most whimsical zoo around.

The next genius thing A Modern Eden has in it’s bag of wares is an APP!  Yes, there’s an app for A Modern Eden!  They offered it free me to review but I ALREADY HAD IT because it’s so cool and it’s only 99 cents!  It’s called “Speak, Piggy” and it’s a great tool to entertain your kiddos and help them learn animal names and sounds at the same time.

Lastly, I did get one other cool thing to review from these guys: A Modern Eden reusable TOTE! I love reusable totes for all my drugstore shopping and this one is a lot cuter and more durable than the ones I get at the grocery. It’s also just the right size for toting around Sophie’s favorite books everywhere we go!  I chose this tree design but they have a really cool apple design here too.

They also have some super-cute animal flashcards featuring all their many animal characters which I will have to get for baby #3 for SURE! Just cause I like to look at them.

These are just the DEBUT products from A Modern Eden! I can’t wait to see what else they’re going to create for this gorgeous line.  How about some rugs and wall decals for baby’s nursery, guys?  🙂

Now the really fun part: one lucky reader will win a poster and tote of their choice from A Modern Eden!  Wheeeee!  Here’s how to enter:

1) Go to A Modern Eden and look around their site.  Leave a comment on this post telling us your fave product.

2) Follow @amoderneden on twitter and @them to say hi!  Then leave us a separate comment letting us know you did.

3) “Like” A Modern Eden’s facebook page and then leave a separate comment letting us know you do.

One winner will be chosen via random.org on Monday, July19th at 5 pm.  Good luck!

So, A Modern Eden is what I LOVE today. To see what other bloggers are diggin’ check out Things I Love Thursday at the Diaper Diaries!
