The Laundromaniac

Wednesday the week before last, I got THE call I’d been waiting months for.  The call from Frigidaire saying my new Affinity washer and dryer, which I’m receiving as part of the Frigidaire Mom’s Test Drive Team – were on their way.  I was SO EXCITED!! Better yet?  They wanted to bring them the NEXT DAY!

So now, these two beautiful babies are making my basement look a WHOLE lot prettier:

my new babies

Aren’t they BEAUTIFUL!!?? (now, who wants to give me a basement-laundry room makeover?  IKEA?  Target? Kmart Design?  C’mon, somebody!!)

As soon as the door hit the delivery men, I was all about trying out my new toys.  So I loaded up the washer, and threw in some detergent.  And then, while it was running, I read the manual and discovered that there is a little compartment that you are supposed to put the detergent in. WHOOPS!  So, I ran that load again. 🙂

Here’s what amazes me thus far about the washer:

1) It’s SO QUIET.  When I ran that first load, I had to press my face to the glass door to see that it was actually on.  Really, standing two feet away from it, it was so quiet I couldn’t tell!!

2) It’s SO SMART.  I turn one little knob, say to “delicates” and it automatically picks what water temperature, length of cycle, etc. will be best for those clothes.

3) It’s SO FLEXIBLE.  Should I decide I’d rather change one of those settings my washer so kindly picked out for me, it’s super easy with just the touch of a button.

The other thing I LOVE about my new Affinity washer is that it’s so efficient!  As I learned at Fabric Care University last week, the average top-loader washer uses 32 gallons of water per cycle.  The average high-efficiency like my new Frigidaire?  USES 5!!!  Five gallons!! That’s IT!  I cannot WAIT to see the reduction in my water bill!

What I love about the dryer is similar to what I love about the washer: SMART, FLEXIBLE, and also oh-so-quiet.  The only disadvantage of this quietness is that I can no longer stick my head in the basement door and hear whether the dryer is still running or not.  I actually have to go all the way downstairs, because it’s THAT quiet!  Another great feature of both machines is the “quick” wash and dry cycle – if you need something washed and dried fast, you can get it done in less than an hour!  Oh, and did I mention the MASSIVE amounts of STORAGE in the pedestals under each machine??  It rules my world!

storage!!!

With all I learned about the science behind laundry detergents and HE washing machines last week at Fabric Care University, combined with my amazing new Frigidaire laundry machines, I have been a laundromaniac this past week! Doing laundry like a crazy person and I LOVE it! Unfortunately, I still HATE the folding and putting away. But the actual process has been much more enjoyable.  If these Frigidaire machines can get ME excited about laundry and get Emily excited about COOKING, then they must be pretty incredible!!

You’ll hear more about my adventures in laundry in the upcoming months -next up – hopefully a little video tour!  Stay tuned!

If you didn’t already figure it out, Frigidaire provided me with an Affinity washer and dryer in exchange for my honest reviews.  Thanks Frigidaire and Mom Central for making me a part of the Frigidaire Test Drive Team!

See Jenny Shop!

Ok, so, if you’ve been reading this blog for any decent length of time (and really, if you haven’t been, go back and read the archives they’re thrilling!) you know I loooooves me some coupons, some drugstore and grocery deals.  And I love posting about them!

But, I don’t love covering up all of our other drivel brilliant content with my bragging posts about what I bought at CVS today.

*So* I have devised a solution, thanks in part to my supa-smart friend Andrea at MommySnacks.  I am going to start posting all my daily deals in a category called “See Jenny Shop”.  I’ve got a pretty “See Jenny Shop” button in our sidebar that looks like this:

You can click on it every day to see my latest drugstore score! And even some of my hot online shopping deals.   And it won’t clog up the main content on Mommin’ It Up.  So head on over to see what I bought today!!

And don’t forget to click on See Jenny Shop every day to see what I’ve been stealing up to. 🙂

I’m a Looter, baby…

DSC02086

Sometimes when I leave the drugstore with a bag of stuff I’ve pretty much gotten for FREE-99 as I like to say, I feel like a looter! A pillager! Even though I am a totally honest couponer, I still feel like I need to run out the door before they make me give everything back!

Such was the case at Rite Aid and CVS today.  My Rite Aid loot is above.  Here’s what I got!

Two Gillette men’s body was $5.98

Herbal Essences $2.49

Veet $5.84 (regular $6.49 but I get 10% off regular price w. my Rite Aid Wellness + card)

Coppertone $8.99

Scotch tape 3-pack CLEARANCE $1.25

total= $24.55 (I hadn’t realized I would get a discount on the Veet.  The manager rang me up and still let me use my $5/$25 coupon.)

Coupons:

$5/$25 Rite Aid video values coupon

-$1 Herbal Essences q from recent P&G insert

-$4/2 Gillette body washes from recent P&G insert

– $1 off Coppertone printable (coupons.com)

-$3 off Coppertone Rite Aid Video Values q

-$3 off Veet printable q (Veet.com)

-$3 off Veet Rite Aid Video Values q

-$1 off Veet Rite Aid in-ad q – this week’s ad

total= $3.55, tax $1.30 paid $4.85 out-of-pocket

Will get back a $2.99 rebate for the Gillette, $1.50 for the Herbal Essences, and received $2 +UP rewards for the Coppertone.  So, a profit of $1.61 for this trip!

Next – CVS was even better than I thought it would be!

I got:
Two IZZE soft drinks clearance 80 cents

Three Power Bars $2.97

Gillette ProGlide razor $9.97

Two Old Spice body washes $8

Coupons I used

$5/$30 CVS email coupon I got this week – WOOT!

-$4 B1G1 Free Old Spice odor blocker body wash from P&G rebate coupon book

-$4 Gillette ProGlide q from last week’s P&G inserts

-$5 Schick Hydro q from today’s SmartSource insert

-$8 in ECBs I earned in last night’s trip

total = $4.71, $1.34 tax, paid $6.05 out-of-pocket

And I got back $8 ECB for the body wash (this was supposed to be limit 1, but they apparently made it limit 2!! so this was my good surprise on this trip!), $4 for the Schick razor, $2.97 for the PowerBars and $5 for the ProGlide razor.  So I spend $6.05 + 8 ECB and I got back $19.97 ECB which is a $5.92 PROFIT for this trip!  Woohoo!
