Again With the Drama

DSC04077

I think Sophie, at 22 months, is headed in the same drama-rama direction as her cousin Kate. (And her friend Ashlyn – right Kristyn?) For quite some time now, if she falls down or bumps her head or suffers some various other minor boo-boo, she’ll say “Okay? Awwight?” Asking herself if she’s ok, and asking you to ask her.

It’s very cute. Trust me.

But her latest trick?

Apparently because I don’t pay enough attention to her, she now gently sets herself down on the floor, then looks around to see that you’re watching, and says, “Okay? Awwight?” with a wounded look on her face.

That’s right, the Oscar goes to: Sophia Diane, for Best Actress in the Fake Injury category.

I don’t even wanna think about the “what-am-I-gonna-wear-to-the-Oscar-ceremony” drama!! Shoot me.

My little Drama-Queen-In-Training doesn’t even talk much yet! Can you imagine the exaggerations that will soon spout forth from her little lips? Until then, she’ll have to stick with the physical drama-logues.

What do your little ones do for the sake of the Almighty Drama?

This was a crazy week around here, what with the windstorm and the power outages and what-not. Six days later, most people in our area (including both of my brothers & their families) do not have power at their houses still. We are so fortunate to have never lost ours!

Anyhoo, here are some pics I snapped this week. This first one is of the ginormous uprooted tree I first showed you in my Wordless Wednesday post.

broken yet beautiful

The park that tree lived in is also home to a very cute trashcan!

pretty trashy

Since I was taking pictures near downtown, I decided to go up to the levee and take pictures across the Great Miami River.

This is the back of the First Baptist Church in Dayton.

back of church in the great miami river

I am usually rather annoyed by these geese when they are on land but they suited my purposes here!

I tried to get some sun spots. This is looking out over the usually unattractive I-75.

Finally, on to the kiddos. She’s not cute or anything, is she?

poser

When you’re 4, there’s nothing like running as fast as you can down a steep driveway.

happy happy boy boy

When you’re almost two, there’s nothing like watching your big brother race toward you as fast as he can up a steep driveway!

so. excited!

Except getting sidewalk chalk all over your buns!

chalky bottom

That’s all I got! For more photographic feats, go check out Weekly Winners at Sarcastic Mom!

Shew! CVS Withdrawal Over!

Yesterday I posted about how I hadn’t been to CVS in several days due to power outages cause by the Windstorm of the Century on Sunday. As a matter of fact, of my two regular CVSes, one didn’t get power back until Wednesday and the other didn’t until yesterday at noon! Isn’t that ka-razy!? I was in seriously bad CVS withdrawal shape, but finally after a couple transactions yesterday I was much better shape!!

I DID get to go on Sunday BEFORE the power went out, and here is what I got then:

peanut butter & spaghetti sauce?

The Ragu & Skippy was 3/$5, so my total was $10 even. I used the $2/$10 CVS coupon, a $75 cents off Ragu coupon (from a home mailer) and three 40-cent-off Skippy coupons. My total came to $6.05. I paid with 6 ECB and 5 cents cash and got back 3 ECB!

Then, I needed milk so I did this:

mmm. free cereal!

Milk $2.99
2 Malt-o-Meal cereal marked down to 49 cents each
Newspaper $1.85
Excedrin express gels $3.99

Total = $9.81 (I didn’t know the cereal was marked down. So I expected my total to be over $10 before tax. My cashier let me use my $2/$10 anyways).
Coupons used: CVS $2/$10
Two $1 off Malt-o-Meal coupons, adjusted down to 49 cents
$2 off Excedrin coupon

My total was $4.83. I paid with 5 ECB adjusted down to $4.83, paid zero out-of-pocket and got back $3.99 ECB for the Excedrin!

Then, Friday, I was able to make a HUGE SCORE at my beloved favorite CVS store.

body wash and popsicles. oh yeah! I made $7.50 on this!

Four St. Ives body wash $3.99 each
One 48-pack giant Flavor-Ice, clearanced at $3.74

Total = $19.70
Coupons:
$2/$10 CVS
Two B1G1 Free St. Ives manu q’s
Two $1 off St. Ives manu q’s
Four $1 off St. Ives Walgreens q’s
$2 off St. Ives CRT

total= $1.72
I didn’t have any ECB that small, so with tax I paid $2.82 on my gift card from Joshua’s prescription and got back TEN ECB!! 5 was for the St. Ives, and 5 for the Flavor-Ice that cost me only $3.74! These were $14.99 with 5 ECB back, and even though they were on clearance they STILL gave the ECB! My husband LOVES these so I went back and got another box. Score!

Finally, I did this transaction as part of the CVS Charity Challenge. I won a $5 CVS gift card from Erin at Coupon Cravings to use to buy things for the charity of my choice. I chose Oasis for Women, an organization in our area that ministers to women who are employed in the sex industry. They need toiletries, makeup, and hygiene items for the gift bags they make up for the women they minister to. I got everything in the picture below for $4.77 on the gift card, and got 3 ECB back. I am going to use that to buy one more Suave deodorant and get a couple other small things and then I will get another 2 ECB for the Suave. Which I will then use to buy something else to donate! Hopefully I will be able to wrap all that up next week so I can take all the items to Oasis! I would have finished it this week if I had actually been able to GET TO CVS!

CVS Charity Challenge, got all this for under $5

Well that’s all for me this week. Hope you all did great too! For more crazy couponing, check out Money Saving Mom and the Centsible Sawyer!
