Lands’ End – Looks that Last

As I’ve been writing about Lands’ End outfits in the last couple of months, I’ve focused on the versatility of their clothing. From the office to kids’ activities to date nights, they’ve got you covered. That goes for holiday parties as well, of course, but like I’ve said before – as women, we’re not likely to buy an outfit that serves only one purpose. We want things we can wear again and again. Here’s an example of an outfit that’s perfect for the Christmas season, but will transfer well to the rest of winter as well.

We’ll start with the Women’s Regular Long Sleeve Cable Turtleneck Dress.

Isn’t it pretty? It also comes in black, but I just love the Rich Red. It’s made from merino wool, which is soft and comfortable (and not scratchy at all). The cable knit adds a lovely design, without being bulky. I love this dress – it really looks and feels great.

It’s a great choice for a Christmas party… you could even add the Tartan Plaid Flower Pin for a little added festiveness (is that a word? Probably not, but you know what I mean. Festivity? Not sure. Anywho…)

But wait!

Want to wear it to the office in January? Belt it and wear black pumps, like in the picture above. Perfect.

OR, you could dress it down slightly and go with this look:

I love this so much, I can’t even describe it.

Put a white No Iron Pinpoint Cotton Shirt underneath…

Add tights, a belt, and slip on the Elizabeth Mid Heel Boot

And there you go. One dress, three looks.

Love it.

Happy Birthday, Baby Boy

Jonah baby,
Happy Birthday darling! I’m sorry I am a few days late in writing this.  The reason is, your whole family except for you got very sick the week of your first birthday!  I’ll always remember your first birthday as the one we were almost too sick to celebrate.  But, thankfully, we all got well just in time.  So we celebrated you, our bonus baby, with cake:

and with presents:

and it was so much fun! Your family loves you, baby boy.

Jonah-Jo, you are the baby I never planned on having.  Silly me, and silly Daddy, we thought our family was complete.  But God knew better, and He gave us you, the most beautiful, sweet, funny, perfect surprise there could ever be.  You have taught us so much this past year.  You’ve let us see a new side of Joshua and Sophie as they’ve demonstrated how much they love and want to take care of you.  You’ve reminded me over and over again that a baby’s smile can put the ups and downs of life into perspective.  You’ve given us as a family a million reasons to work together, just to coax you into smiling, laughing, peek-a-booing, patty-caking, etc.  You are some good entertainment, my love.

And oh, how you’ve reminded me that I’m getting older!  You’re definitely my most aggressive baby, going after whatever you want, and not letting anything stand in your way. You keep me running, boy.  I hope one day you can use that aggressiveness and ambition to achieve great things and to help others.

But for now, I’m content just to cuddle you, nurse you, kiss your sweet cheeks, tickle you, bounce you – anything to see that smile, hear that laugh, that has changed this world of mine. I sure do love you, Jonah Laton.

Lands’ End for all your Holiday Gatherings

Holidays in our family aren’t super dressy occasions… we tend to go the more casual route, wearing jeans-and-sweater-type outfits. We keep things comfortable! Of course, though, it’s nice to look nice. That’s where Lands’ End comes in! They have outfits for the entire family, but let’s focus on you for a moment. Here are some of my recommendations!

I love, love, love the Circle Cardigan Sweater.

I have it in Natural, but I love it so much that I seriously had to hold myself back from buying the Maplewood version at the Lands’ End Shop at Sears last weekend. Now that I see the website, though, I think I might need it in avocado, too. Hmmm… But I digress. The circle sweater is made from a cotton and wool blend, and it’s nice and warm and cozy. The details make it feminine and dressy. And p.s. it’s on sale for $34.99 which is a freaking STEAL, I tell you!

I like to wear that sweater with my trusty Cotton Modal Crew tops (hello, $9.99 right now) which I would estimate I wear at least three times a week. They are the perfect layering T.

Those tops would look great with regular jeans, or mix things up a little and wear the Modern 14-wale Corduroy Slim Leg Jeans.

I have them in brown, which is goes nicely with my Natural circle sweater. I love the pants – they are super comfortable. They are slimming, yet have a bit of stretch (which is nice after a holiday meal!). They are Fit 1, which is my favorite, and the slim leg has a close fit. Lands’ End will also hem them for you for free.

For comfy, cozy shoes, try the Chalet Shearling Clogs

Or the Chalet Midshaft Pull On Boots.

There you have it – my outfit for Christmas day. I’m sure Jenny will be decked out in her Lands’ End Starfish Collection clothes… we’ll both be very comfortable and very well dressed!
