It Could be Worse.

I originally titled this post “Running on Empty” and I intended to moan and complain about how we’ve been out of town the last two weekends, how Sam landed himself in the emergency room in St. Louis on Friday, how because of being gone I haven’t had time to do normal weekend stuff like go to the grocery, how tennis season is about to start and I won’t see my husband for about two months, how my cell phone won’t actually make or receive calls, and how I am completely unprepared for my kids’ joint birthday party that is taking place on Sunday (oh and btw, Jenny & Aunt Diane – your invitations are still in my purse so it’s Sunday at 2 at my dad’s, k?).

And also how I am freaking exhausted.

But really none of those things are really all that terrible, so I felt guilty about my impending complaints and decided not to wax poetic about them (even though in telling you that I wasn’t going to complain, I still got all my complaints in).

Since I have nothing else to say, I decided to leave you with a whimsical cartoon and googled “It could be worse.”

I was in equal parts horrified and amused by what I found, and I couldn’t pick just one.

(I apologize ahead of time.)

So yeah. It could be worse.

Review: New Mary Kay Foundation Products

I’ve made it no secret that I loooove Mary Kay skin care AND makeup, so I am always *thrilled* to be able to review their products.  I’ve been wearing their Mineral Powder foundation for about two years, so when I heard they were re-vamping their liquid foundations, I didn’t really think anything of it, because I was so happy with the powder.  But THEN, I had baby Jonah, and my hormones did some wacky stuff with my skin!  It’s a little drier than it was, so I was actually really happy to try the new liquid foundations to give my skin a little more moisture.  I tried both the matte and luminous wear foundations and they are both great.  The matte is awesome for when you want a really super-flawless look, and they luminous is great for anytime you want a bit of a dewy glow. I like the luminous for every day because I like the subtle glow.

Both foundations hold the color of your blush, bronzer, etc. really well –  definitely use LESS color on my face when I’m wearing the liquid vs. the powder because color grabs to the liquid a bit more.  And they feel light and wear ALL.DAY.LONG.  You do NOT need to worry about re-applying!

Speaking of wearing all day long, another great go-along product with these is the foundation primer.  I use this with both the liquid and the powder and it works GREAT. It’s a very lightweight gel that you just smooth over your face before you put your foundation on.  It perfects your skin so you have a flawless canvas for your foundation, and it helps extend the foundation’s benefits.  I love it!

Finally, there is also a foundation brush to go with these liquids.  A brush?  YES!  I thought it was odd at first but soon I was in love with the brush!  I’ve never used one to apply liquid foundation so I was skeptical, but it REALLY blends it so well, and it’s nice not to have foundation-covered fingers when I’m done!  Plus, unlike a sponge, it doesn’t absorb the liquid, so you waste less.  I gotta say, the brush applies foundation really evenly. It’s an accessory I am definitely going to stick with!

Thanks, Mary Kay, for letting me try these great new products!  Can’t wait to see what you’ll come up with next!

All I want for Easter

I am fairly sure parts of this post may be sacreligious, and for that, I am truly sorry.

But people, I am NOT in my right mind here.

Because I’ve been exercising. Not just my Pilates, but Wii Fit also.  And I’ve been eating better AND only having ONE can of pop a day. ONE!

It’s not that fun.  But, I have lost about three pounds.  So I will soldier on.

As much as one can soldier on while curled up in the fetal position crying for the want of a Cadbury Creme Egg and a Mountain Dew.

Because I want. It’s Easter season and my new “healthy lifestyle” has made my focus veer away from the spiritual and toward the sugarful.

I dream of floating in a Mountain Dew ocean surrounded by little Cadbury Creme eggs bobbing around me…

I need help. HELP!

And some oval-shaped milk chocolate filled with liquified sugar made to look like egg yolk.

STAT!

(You know what’s really sad? This isn’t even the first post I’ve written about Cadbury Creme eggs!  This is.  And the Dew posts are countless, I’m sure.)

Easter Bunny, can ya feel me?  Hop on over!
