Ready or Not…

My cousin Anna took this picture yesterday; it is of my and Emily’s grandmother playing hide-and-seek with Joshua (the blue blur) and Kate (the purple blur).

Grandma is pretty much the best hide-and-seeker ever.

This picture speaks to me; it tells me lots of things I already know but reminds me how important these things are.  For instance, that my grandmother is at 85, still an expert at the art of playing with a child, just like she was when Emily and Anna and I were little.  And that, like the speedy blurs that are Joshua and Kate, the chances to play with a child pass by in a blink.

It reminds me that there is a time to be still, and a time to be quick.  That the most fun things in life are also the most simple.  That people are more precious than things.  And most especially that I am very, very blessed that my kids get to enjoy my grandmother just as I did as a child.

Take some time to enjoy the simple things today.  Because Ready or Not, they won’t always be there.

Fiber-y and Gluten-free (almost) freebies at Kroger!

DSC02324

Sooo Kroger had a great deal on Fiber One bars this week that also coincided with another promotion involving free General Mills cereal (either Cinnamon Chex or Cinnamon Cheerios).  Since we rely on Fiber One bars to keep Sophie um, regular, I always jump at the chance to stock up!  Plus, this week if you bought 3 select General Mills products, (Fiber One bars being one of said products) you got either a box of Cinnamon Chex or Cinnamon Cheerios free.  AND Fiber One bars were also part of a General Mills catalina, if you bought 6 you got back a coupon for $3.50 off your next order! Soooo when I mad my big grocery trip this week I got 6 boxes of Fiber One bars at $2.49 each, and used six 50-cent off coupons from coupons.com or smartsource.com (which doubled to $1).  I also used a $1/2 General Mills cereals printable from coupons.com, even though the cereals were free, you could still use a coupon on them.  Sooo I paid $7.94 for all that and got back a $3.50 coupon to use on my next order.  My next order was, of course, 6 boxes of Fiber One bars and two boxes of Cinnamon Chex cereal!  Using the above coupons again and my $3.50 catalina, I paid $4.44 this time and got back another $3.50 Catalina. 🙂 🙂  WHAT UP!  Now I am 12 boxes of Fiber One bars richer!  And since the Cinnamon Chex are gluten-free, I am giving them to my friend Celia who recently found out she needs to eat gluten-free.  Yippee!
