Love at the Dry Cleaners

This past Tuesday, Emily and me and some other fabulous bloggers were invited to attend the grand opening of the Tide dry cleaners in nearby Mason, Ohio.  That’s right, you heard me.  A TIDE Dry Cleaners!  I’ve made no secret about the fact that I love, love, love Tide, and Emily feels the same way, so we were happy to attend. I mean, a Tide Dry Cleaners seemed like the BEST idea in laundry ever to me!

Of course, after we got the grand tour and saw how they did things – we were blown away by how cool the Tide Dry Cleaners is. If it’s from Tide, I expect it to be great and it WAS!  Here’s a few things that “wow’ed” us:

Cortney and me listening intently during the grand tour. It was fascinating!
  • There’s a DRIVE-THRU.  You don’t have to get your kids out of the car to drop off or pick up your dry cleaning.  The heavens parted and angels began to sing at this miracle!! Ok, that is a slight exaggeration, but really, EVERYTHING should have a drive-thru and Tide Dry Cleaners does!!
  • You can pick up your clothes 24/7.  That’s right, if you want to pick up your suit at 2:22 a.m. cause you are freaky like that, you CAN!  Or on your way into work at 7 a.m.  Twenty-four-flippin’-seven, people!  Now that’s convenience!
  • Pricing!  The pricing was very reasonable, and y’all know how cheap I am. ANY SIZE comforter for $20.  Twenty bucks!?? That’s a steal!
  • Special services: Tide Dry Cleaners can restore your garments to their former glory. Got faded blacks??  Try the “back to black” service for just $5!! Again, SO worth it to make that key black wardrobe piece look like new again.
  • Tech-nol-o-gy.  Tide uses Green Earth dry cleaning process to be the most environmentally-friendly in it’s dry cleaning service AND super high-tech machines to get your clothes done beautifully and quickly.  The efficiency of the conveyor belt and the combination shirt dryer-and-pressing-machine were really impressive!!
The computer-operated conveyor belt moves at lightning speed!

Drying and Pressing your shirt at the SAME TIME!

The Tide Dry Cleaners in Mason (check it out at 8100 Mason-Montgomery Rd.) is the training center and flagship store – but Tide is franchising these fabulous stores SO hopefully there will be one coming near to all of us soon! Emily and I were excited to hear that the Dayton franchise has already been sold, which means we should have a Tide Dry Cleaners in our backyard next year! WOOT!

Thanks to our friends at Tide for inviting us to this great grand opening.  We wish you ALL the success as you bring Tide standards to dry cleaning!

Tide is compensating Emily and I for our time in both attending the event and posting about it. All opinions in this post are ours, and we were honored to be a part of this event!

Giveaway: Bob Evans Family Meal To Go!

I looooove Bob Evans. When Jenny and I were pregnant for the first time and we worked together (in the same office. By ourselves. Can you imagine?), we got carryout from Bob’s approximately three times a week. Not exaggerating! Andy and I used to go there with my grandparents all the time as well, but after the kids were born we stopped going so often because it’s kind of far away and took a lot of time.

But now we can have Bob Evans whenever and wherever we want!

Bob’s now has family sized meals to go. Check out the offerings:
Slow Roasted Turkey Breast & Dressing
Turkey Bacon Cheddar Pasta
Grilled or Fried Chicken
Pot Roast Stroganoff
Cranberry Pecan Chicken Salad
Chicken & Broccoli Alfredo
Roast Beef
Chicken Parmesan
Meat Loaf
Spaghetti with Meat Sauce

Then you pick your side item and choose garlic bread, biscuits or rolls (get the rolls, trust me)…. and voila. Dinner in an instant. All for under $20. Best of all, lots of Bob Evans locations have curbside pick up, which means they will bring your food to you, which means you don’t have to get your kids out of the car – which we all know is priceless.

Our family tried out the fried chicken, and it was delish… as all things from Bob Evans are.

Want to try one for yourself? We’re giving away one Family Meal to Go! Here’s how to enter:

Christmas Shopping

It’s about time we start thinking about it. We can’t avoid it much longer. Black Friday is next week, you know.

Christmas shopping.

‘Tis the season.

Wait, what? You have all your Christmas shopping done, wrapped and sitting under your perfectly-decorated tree? Now all that’s left to do is sit around drinking hot chocolate and singing Christmas carols?

Lucky you.

I, on the other hand, haven’t done jack to get ready for the holidays. Fortunately all I have to do for Thanksgiving is show up at one grandma’s at noon and the other grandma’s at three with two cute kids. I’ve got that covered.

But Christmas?

Not so much.

As for decorating – I have visions of white lights all over our house and yard. However if I remember correctly, I found out the hard way last year that about 2 of the 43 strands of lights that we own work (please tell me I had the sense to throw out those that didn’t) and there’s a strand out on our pre-lit Christmas tree. So I don’t exactly have this part under control.

I don’t even know what to get the kids for Christmas. Kate has one item on her list: a puppy. Not gonna happen. (Unless her father buys her one while I’m not home. Which is entirely possible.) So I don’t know what else to get her. Sam has an extensive list of two things: a Reds hat and a Bengals hat.

Frankly, one look at our basement makes me never want to buy a toy ever again.

So, that leaves me in quite a quandary.

Give me some inspiration here, people. What are you excited about giving your kids (or spouse or neighbor or whatever) this year?
