Happy 3rd Birthday, Sophie Girl

Three years ago today, my Sophia Diane entered the world at 7:31 a.m.

I was very anxious at the end of my pregnancy. I just wanted her out. I couldn’t wait to meet her! I knew she’d have lots of hair. And she did not disappoint! From the moment she was born, people commented on her hair.

When she was about three weeks old, it started sticking straight up.

It finally got heavy enough to lay flat when she was about 6 months old.

Then it turned blonde!

And got really, really long. Maybe because her mommy can’t bear to cut it.

Her hair is usually the first thing people notice about her. And it is beautiful! I’ve even written more than one post about it.

So, anyhoo, girl’s got a beautiful head of hair. It’s kind of her thing.

Of course though she could be completely bald and she’d still be the most beautiful girl in the world to me. She’s my baby. And I can’t believe she’s three.

At three Sophie is much more independent than she was a year ago. But she still lets me know that she loves me and wants to spend time with me. Being home with her all day is truly so much fun. I love it when she talks to me in her sweet little voice, sings along to her favorite songs, “reads” her favorite books to me, and quotes entire scenes from her favorite TV show, “Word World”. I love her sweetness, her stubbornness, her smile, her touch, and her silliness. I love the way she’ll prance around in a tutu while playing trains. I love the way she ALWAYS tries to climb UP a slide instead of going down. I love the way she asks me “What happened?” or “What’s wrong?” when she wants ME to ask HER those questions. I love the way she always tries to get me to give her Cheez-its for breakfast. I love, love, love, love being her mommy.

So Happy Birthday, Sophie girl. You’re my favorite girl, my sweetheart, and an amazing gift from God. I love you and I am so proud of you!

The Lion’s Mane is Overrated

Yesterday I had an amazingly wonderful experience. It was relaxing, soothing, and practically religious.

I got my hair cut!

Yep, that’s it. I got my hair cut. And it was waaaaaay overdue. It had been *gulp* almost four months since I’d made the time to go get it done! Crazy! Now I like my hair long, but I should still get it cut every 8-10 weeks, not every 16. It was looking pretty scraggly. And I was feeling pretty scraggly. So while I was there, I made an appointment for NEXT time – 8 weeks – and went ahead and put it on the calendar (January 7th!) so that next time I won’t look like Rapunzel tried to cut her own hair with a pair of kitchen shears when I go in. So that my hair won’t get so heavy (it’s really thick, y’all) that it hurts my scalp if I wear it down two days in a row. And so that I’ll look nice and feel good about myself. And so that I’ll make sure to at least have that 60 minutes in that chair just for me.

So, here’s my new haircut. Not that I can ever flat iron it this straight, and anyway I am much too lazy to flat iron it every day, but it’s a great cut and it’ll look great curly too! I love it!

Merry Christmas From Jenny!

If you are related to Jenny, if you’re her kids’ teacher, if you go to her church, if you have ever laid eyes on her, or if you even stumble across this blog… your house is going to smell great this year, because look what Jenny’s giving you for Christmas!

glade candles

That’s right. Jenny’s on a Glade candle kick again.

You may remember this post, when Jenny told us about buying 12 Glade candles. Or this one, in which she bought 10. Or in any number of other posts, in which, according to my rough estimation, she purchased at least 51 additional glade candles.

And you may also remember this post, in which I gently encouraged Jenny to SEEK HELP for her disorder.

But, alas, she did not heed my warning, and she is at it again.

That stash in that picture up there? She tells me that she got paid about $14 to buy them. You know, by using coupons and witchcraft and other assorted trickery.

I think she probably stuffed them under her shirt and took off.

And guess what she’s doing right this minute?? Going to Target to buy more.

The girl is nuts. Nuts, I tell you!

So Merry Christmas from Jenny. I hope you have some matches.

If you’d like to become addicted to get some Glade candles for free too, check out Marcy’s post here! NOT that I am promoting hoarding (*ahem*JENNY*ahem*).
