My 4th of July Shopping Trip

It’s just not a holiday unless I can score some sweet deals.  So, I ran out to Rite Aid and CVS this morning.  There’s a new printable $5/$25 Rite Aid coupon that I wanted to make good use of. Here’s what I got!

total =$ 12.76 + tax and I got back 7 +UP rewards, 2 for the toothbrush and 5 for the razor. Also I will get back $7.29 single check rebate for the Renu and a $5 single check rebate for the Comtrex.  So the total profit for this visit is about 6 bucks. WHEEEE!

Next to CVS.  I keep my brother’s family stocked with some of their favorite items (my brother will ONLY use Charmin Ultra STRONG toilet paper – I do not want to know why!) so since many of them were on ECB today I went for it.  I got some nice SURPRISES at the coupon scanner too! A $5/$20 good that day only and a $1 off Bounty paper towels good that day only! whee again!

Cheap Necessities!

DSC02152The kids and I had to run out to CVS real quick-like this morning for some necessities.  We needed milk and I needed more pain patches for my BACK (did I mention 1,000 times that I hurt my stupid back??) so I checked my coupons and the CVS ad to see what else I should pick up, as I had gotten a $5/$25 CVS coupon in my email yesterday and I wanted to see if I could make use of it!  So I formulated a plan and here’s what we got:

Milk $2.79

Bengay pain patches $5.99

Pantene hairspray clearance $2.49

2 John Frieda Root Awakening Shampoo/Conditioner $10

3 clearance Now & Later (mommy needs fruity candy!) 66 cents  (total! woot!)

Tums (mommy has heartburn!) $3.79

total = $25.72

coupons:

-$5/$25 CVS email coupon

-$1 Bengay printable

-$2 Pantene CVS coupon from scanner

-$2 Tums CVS coupon from scanner

-$3 John Frieda from recent insert

-$2 John Frieda from recent insert

=$10.72

paid with 6 ECB, so total was $4.72 + tax. I paid $6.05 and got back 6 ECB, 1 for the Tums, 2 for the Bengay, and 3 for the John Frieda.

So my net spent was LESS than the two items I needed, the pain patches and the milk. Yay!!!

Whaddya know, we’re all still alive!

So a week ago I was in the depths of despair. And I really appreciate all your kind comments on that post. You made me cry, and cry, and cry. But of course, it’s a known fact that I am both a crybaby and emotionally unstable. Heh.

Anyhoo, a week later I am proud to report that we are ALL doing much better! Sophie is pretty much house-trained as far as the potty goes. And she even stays dry when we go out, she just doesn’t want to use any other potty but her little potty and she prefers that it be located in our living room. But THAT I can deal with! She goes when she needs to go, and I am sure by the time preschool starts she will be using potties other than ours. She has even been dry a couple times overnight! She hasn’t had an accident since Saturday. She is enjoying wearing big-girl panties and of course, flushing. I am SO proud of her!

(Like so many of us, Sophie enjoys a good read on the potty. Here she is playing with her VTech V.Reader. Have you entered to win one for your kids yet? We’re giving one away! Enter here!)

I hurt my back pretty badly last Friday, so I haven’t done much this week except keep the kids alive – take Joshua to swimming lessons, and make sure they eat a couple of times a day.  My house is still an atrocious mess but we are all much happier.

Progress is progress, and I’ll take it!
