I went shopping in a truck and I liked it! {giveaway!}

local love giveaway

A few months ago, I found out my friend Beth was opening her own business. (Beth and I met in college and have been friends ever since. We are kind of hoping Sophie and one of her boys get married so we can perhaps be related, because YAY!) In fact, she was opening a boutique! I thought this was quite exciting because I looove clothes and accessories! And then…I found out her boutique was a mobile boutique…but I had no idea what that was. Turns out? It’s a boutique inside a big ol’ TRUCK! Exactly like this one.

Beth and her truck are KIND OF ADORABLE.

All this loveliness is INSIDE the truck!

A few weeks ago, I headed out to see what Beth’s business Local Love…A Roaming Boutique was all about. If you’re local, you can catch her truck out and about by liking her Facebook page so you can get updates on where the truck will be when. OR you can BOOK her truck to come to YOUR HOUSE – just gather a few of your fashion-loving friends at your place and Beth will come to you! You can earn a discount on your own purchases just for hosting the truck!

When I went shopping at Local Love…A Roaming Boutique, I met the truck out and about. I wanted to get the full mobile shopping experience!

I was TOTALLY impressed with the way Beth has the truck set up. It’s way roomier than you would think, and it really is just a cute little boutique inside!

Accessories galore!

It even has TWO dressing rooms!

I'm in a dressing room...in a truck. WHAT?

(Side note, this was a real day of first experiences for me. First time I ever shopped in a truck, first time I ever got naked in a truck…probably won’t be the last though!)

Ok and then let us talk about the CLOTHES, shall we! They have SO many cute things, and if you aren’t local, you can shop ONLINE at RoamingBoutique.com – never fear!

I tried on many, many things, but in the end I bought this gorgeous bow-back blouse:

I wore it at Mom 2.0 Summit with my favorite Lands’ End jeans and knotted espadrille wedge shoes and it got ALL THE COMPLIMENTS, you guys! Seriously, people loved it! I got SO many compliments in real life, and online (from some of you!!)

And of course, one of those comments is from my mom!

Beth also GAVE me a dress as a thank-you for hosting this giveaway – and because I told her I am too short to wear Maxi dresses and she was like: “CHALLENGE ACCEPTED!!!!!!!” And she was RIGHT, I really did love this Maxi dress! She has several different varieties so if you love a good Maxi dress definitely check them out. I can’t believe how much I like this one. What do you think?

Marc Allison Jeans Review + Giveaway!

Marc Allison Jeans provided me with the review item and will provide the winner’s prize. All opinions are my own.

Way back in 2010, I reviewed a pair of Marc Allison Jeansskinny jeans no less – and I absolutely loved them. Four years later – 4 years, people!! – I am still loving that very same pair. They look and feel just as awesome as they did back then. So NATURALLY, when I got the chance to review a new jean from Marc Allison Jeans, and give a pair away to a reader, I jumped at the chance! So friends, meet Gina.

The Gina is a slim boot cut, so they’re very different from the skinny jeans I reviewed before. However, I can tell they are from the same maker because they feel just as amazing on. These jeans are special – and you can tell it from the minute you put them on. You can tell they’re “premium” quality – the fabric hugs your body without being tight, and not to be too cliche, but they really do feel like a second skin. The Gina does hug your upper leg like a skinny jean, but then flares out at the knee to become a boot cut – but not a wide flare, a really nice, slim, flattering boot cut. They are the perfect every day jean! I chose the charcoal wash for mine because I felt like I needed something different in my wardrobe, and I love it! The Gina is available in 8 different washes so there’s something for everyone. Here’s some more pics of how she fits,  and since NO ONE wants to see me from this angle, I’ll just go with the official photos!

So here’s the secret behind the reason WHY these jeans fit and feel so great: Marc Allison Jeans have a 4-way stretch, which they call the “X-Fit”. It allows the denim to move with you in all directions, and to recover perfectly – so they’ll keep their perfect shape for several wears between laundering. And – the super-softness of the denim is due to luxurious Pima cotton  – trust me when I tell you you can feel the difference!

So, who wants to win a pair of these lovely jeans? YOU ALL DO, believe me! Here’s how to enter:

1) Leave a comment on this post telling me WHY you want to win a pair of Marc Allison “Gina” jeans.

Optional for another entry:

2) Fans of Marc Allison Jeans on Facebook will earn another entry. Just leave a separate comment letting me know that you are a fan.

3) Tweet about the giveaway “I want to win a pair of @marcallisonjean jeans from @jennyitup @momminitup http://bit.ly/1hh62RN #giveaway ” and then leave a second comment on this post with your tweet URL. (You can copy and paste this tweet.)

4) Re-pin this pin of this giveaway and come back here and leave me a comment with the pin URL.

One winner will be chosen Wednesday April 9 at 6 pm. Good luck everyone!

Personal shopper? Sign me up.

First of all, this post is in NO WAY sponsored or anything like that. I paid for this service with real money, I promise.

But you guys. Let me tell you about my new favorite thing. It’s called Stitch Fix and I am pretty sure it’s going to revolutionize my life.

600469_475979259154370_2046035085_n

Here’s what it is:

Stitch Fix is a personal styling service. You tell us your style, size, and budget preferences, and we send you a package of stylish goodies to try on at home. Each Fix is unique and hand-picked just for you.

So, you go to their site and fill out your style profile. You answer all sorts of questions about yourself and look at pictures and tell them if you like the style of clothes or not. You can even link to your Facebook/Pinterest/Twitter accounts so they can see more about you and what kind of things you like. Then, a personal stylist picks out some clothes and sends them to you with these clever little cards that give you ideas on how to style the pieces, like this:

420762_450760111676285_2132073997_n

You decide what you want to keep, pay for it online, and send back the rest in a postage paid already-addressed envelope they include in the box.

It is genius. Genius, I tell you!

I got my first fix a couple of weeks ago, and it was so fun to get a box of surprise clothing! The presentation was fantastic – everything was wrapped in tissue paper and really lovely. I ended up only keeping one shirt, but I can’t wait to try it again.

Have any of you tried Stitch Fix? What did you think?
