See Jenny Shop: Weekend Drugstore Scores

I’m been slacking about posting my drugstore deals lately, but I HAVE been shopping them, more then I have in years. It seems like the deals are getting good again, and CVS keeps emailing me coupons like it’s their JOB. And also, printing out great ones at the Magic Coupon Machine! So anyhoo, here’s what I got this weekend. First off, Rite Aid on Saturday (these are last week’s deals, so the prices are different now. However, the Rite Aid Eye Extravaganza eye makeup promo is going on until August 31. Buy $30, get back $10 +UP Rewards. FYI: Rite Aid has a special site set up for coupons for these eye makeup products. There are TONS and they are all Rite Aid coupons so you can combine with manufacturer coupons!!! Like the CoverGirl ones from the P&G!! Seriously great deals.)

Paid $5.24, got back $10 +UP Rewards

2 CoverGirl eyesadowns $3.39 each = $6.78

2 Always pads BOGO 50% off = $8.23

Total = $19.89

Coupons I used:

-$3/2 CoverGirl eye products from P&G insert

-$1 CoverGirl Rite Aid coupon (print here)

-$1 Rimmel Rite Aid coupon  (print at link above)

-$4 two $2 off Always coupons from P& G insert

-$7 +UP Rewards from previous transactions

= $3.89 + tax = $5.24 and I got back $10 +UP Rewards for buying the eye makeup as part of the Rite Aid Eye Extravaganza (Buy $30, get back $10 +UP Rewards. I had bought the other required products on an earlier transaction.)

With my $10 +UP Rewards, I went back to Rite Aid on Sunday to get a few more things.

Rite Aid: Spent $8.5, got back $10 +UP Rewards

Got back $10 +UP Rewards from the Anacin. I had a Rite Aid “Load 2 Card” coupon for the L’Oreal Advanced hair care as well, but fore some reason it didn’t come off. 🙁 I didn’t realize it til I was home. So that cost me $2. Too bad because I had another manufacturer’s printable with me I could’ve used. Oh well!

Next, off to CVS:

cvsaug18
CVS: Paid $24.94, got back $7 Extra Care Bucks

CVS keeps printing me out $10/$50 coupons! I normally do smaller transactions to pay less out-of-pocket, but I thought this worked out pretty well. For the first time in forever, I used NO manufacturer coupons, only CVS coupons. This is in part because the CVS I frequent takes ALL expired CVS coupons, so I can hold on to them until I need them. I got:

CVS Sport sunscreen, $8.99

CVS Sheer sunscreen, $7.99

2 CVS Bodywash $2 each = $4

Revlon lip liner $6.99

Revlon eyeshadow $6.99

2 CVS Jumbo pack diapers, BOGO 50% off = $13.93

4 CVS wipes tubs BOGO 50% off = $8.96

total = $57.85

coupons:

-$10/$50 purchase CVS receipt coupon

-$ 5/$15 CVS suncare from coupon machine (expired)

-$3/10 CVS diapers from coupon machine (expired)

-$4/$10 CVS skin care from coupon machine (expired)

-$2 CVS body wash or bar soap from coupon machine

-$4/$12 cosmetics purchase from coupon machine

-$7 extra care bucks from last week

total = $22.85 + tax = $24.94 and I got back 23 extra care bucks: 10 for the CVS sunscreen/body wash, 5 for the diapers & wipes, and 8 for the Revlon.

Plus, the Revlon put me over my next CVS Beauty Club reward so when I go back to CVS I will have  $5 extra care bucks waiting for me at the magic coupon machine!

And of course I had TWO more $10/$50 coupons on my receipt…so with all those extra care bucks, I’ll be back!

What are you getting at the drugstores this week?

Coolest Kicks EVER

Remember when Emily and Kate had a super-amazing adventure at Nike headquarters in Portland last year? It was during that time that Emily fell in love with the Nike Free shoe – and luckily, since I’m riding her coat tails, my kids have recently had their chance to fall in love with these shoes, too!

Nike gave Emily and me the opportunity to have our kids design their own NIKEiD shoes – these are Nike Free shoes that you get to custom-design yourself as far as colors and features go. Joshua and Sophie LOVED the design process, and it was really simple. (Jonah got to have Mommy-designed shoes, fortunately, his Mommy has excellent taste.)

Here are a couple of screen shots of the design process – you can change all the colors of every part of the shoe, from the laces to the heel loop. It’s so much fun! Joshua and Sophie just had a blast choosing colors, changing their minds, and finally settling on a design. And yet the process went very quickly, too!

And here are the amazing shoes my kiddos came up with!

Joshua Nike 1Please note that you can design what it says on the tongue, and Joshua wanted to make sure everyone on 4th grade knew WHAT WAS UP!

Joshua Nike 3Nike Free shoes are excellent for plotting Ninja moves. FYI.

And now here are Sophie’s shoes! I did have to convince her to leave orange out of this design. Sorry, I pooped on  my kid’s creativity. For the sake of MY EYES.

Sophie Nike 1

Sophie Nike 2I really love the way hers turned out. They are so…Sophie!

And finally, here are my Jonah-Jo’s shoes. I couldn’t get a great shot with him in them as he is less willing to pose than my big kids!

I love them so much! He looks so cute in them and he seems to be really comfortable in them.

We loved designing our NIKEiDs! Both of the big kids wore theirs proudly on their first day of school, and they got compliments on them wherever we go. Plus, they are helping the kids’ feet feel good while they’re being active or sitting in class like angels.

Oh hi, this is Emily now! As Jenny mentioned, Kate and I became obsessed with Nike Frees when we were on the Nike campus a year ago April. We both got a pair while we were there, and since then, we’ve gotten her another pair, and I’ve purchased two other pairs for myself! I wore them as I trained for and completed a three-day 60-mile walk last year, and they did me right!

Here’s my beloved Nikes about 30 miles into the trip.

But anyway, this post is supposed to be about designing shoes from NIKEiD, right? Sorry – I just really, really love those shoes!

So – Kate had designed a pair of Nike Frees at the Youth Athlete Summit, and she wore the heck out of them for months and months until she outgrew them. She was beside herself excited by the prospect of creating another pair!

Unfortunately, I failed to hit “submit” on her order and didn’t figure that out for a couple of weeks, so her shoes aren’t here yet. They’re getting ready to be shipped, though, and they are very cool looking! (And bright! Shield your eyes.)

I video taped her designing her shoes, but the video is 12 minutes long and I can’t figure out how to edit it, so I will spare you! But the process was easy and fun, and the only reason it took 12 minutes was because she just couldn’t decide on a color scheme! (So, clearly, she went without one.) She thought having “K8” put on the tongue was extremely awesome, too. Thank goodness her beautiful name has a text abbreviation (enter sarcasm punctuation point here).

Sam’s process was much quicker – he decided he needed some Super Man shoes, so it was red, blue, and yellow all the way for him.

From a practical standpoint, I love that the little-kid version is velcro. And, according to Jenny’s retired-preschool-teacher mom, his teacher will love that too!

NIKEiD is a fun way for your kids to express themselves this school year. I highly recommend checking it! You can see more cool designs people have created on the Nike ID Tumblr and on their Facebook page.

The great cousins sleepover!

4kids

Four score and Two weekends ago, Emily’s kids came over to have a sleepover with my big kids., because for SOME reason, Emily thought it would be “more fun” to celebrate Andy’s 40th birthday with some grown-up friends at a Reds vs. Cardinals game and leave her kids with me. (Just kidding, they took the kids to yet another Reds vs. Cardinals game the next day. And also, yes, it is more fun.)

Sophie spent the night with Kate and Sammy back in February when Joshua had some cool guy friends for a sleepover, but this was our first all-cousin bash.

And it was a hit! I wasn’t worried, but since I have memories of Emily and her sis calling their Dad to come get them from sleepovers at MY house at 11 pm, I was trying to keep things fun at our house just in case! You know, make it so they’d never want to leave.

Fortunately, we have a WiiU, and Emily doesn’t have a Wii at all. SO, we were able to indoctrinate the children into the world of video games, and ensure that Sammy WILL be asking Santa for a WiiU, which means he WILL get one, which means Nintendo definitely owes me a commission fee. Even Kate who declared at first that she was not good at video games, quickly learned that she CAN be good at video games, and she loved it!

Mwa-ha-ha-ha!  Then, I turned them into Young Republicans. Sammy went home wearing a white oxford, red tie, and navy blue sport coat. Oh, I kid!

So anyway, we had fun! And if the WiiU wasn’t enough, then we made Minions out of fake Twinkies, icing, and candy eyes! BECAUSE I’M A FUN MOM/FUN COUSIN, dangit!!!!

minion
This was mine. That’s right. I’m way better at Minions than those CHILDREN are.

Too bad Minions aren’t gluten free…

Anyhoo, since we were on a roll in the FUN department, we also got Wendy’s for dinner, popped boatloads of popcorn, and watched “Wreck It Ralph”. After which, at 10:30 PM, the kids had a manic dance rave to the Japanese pop songs on the credits. Joshua was moving SO FAST, I think his popcorn *may* have been laced with ecstasy. It was crazy! He has got manic panic dance moves. All the kids were cracking  me up. I really wish I had that on film.

Then, those 4 kiddos went to bed with absolutely no problem whatsoever and we didn’t hear a peep out of them all night! The ones that I didn’t give birth to even slept in a little!

It was a great night. I sure do love my cousins. Emily really spawned some terrific kids and I’m so glad they are buddies with mine! Can’t wait to do it again!
