Sneakin’ Around

Tonight I met a friend for coffee after dinner and then went to the grocery. When I got home, around 10:20, the house was silent. Everyone was in bed – husband and kiddos, and guess what I did? Nothing! (Well, I put the groceries away. And of course I took a picture of them first so I can show off my couponing skills in my Super Savings Saturday post!) Then I popped open a Coke and got my laptop and sat on the couch and actually watched some non-PBS Kids TV! I didn’t go upstairs and check on anybody. And I don’t think I will, not until I’m too tired to stay up and be by myself anymore. As long as I feel appropriately guilty about it, and I do, I think it’s acceptable behavior. 🙂 I get so little time to be by myself, just me, I’ve got to take it when I can. I love being with my family but it’s great to just be alone for a few minutes, with no one needing or expecting anything from me.

Of course my family is never far from my mind even when I’m along, so since I have a few minutes on my hands here, I want to share this photo of Sophie with you that I took this afternoon. THIS is what her hair looked like when she woke up from her nap today:

You can also see in that devilish grin that she now has two teeth on top (one on the bottom too – and MAN is it sharp! Ohh I REALLY gotta wean her now!) What am I gonna do with this girl?

And here’s my super-cute 4-year-old boy having fun at our local children’s museum yesterday on his birthday!

Well, I’m finally tired of myself…so, good night friends! I hope you caught a few minutes with yourself today too.

Throwback Thursday

It’s been a while since we’ve participated in the Pinks & Blues Throwback Thursday, but today is the perfect day!

Today Jenny’s brother Charles and my sister Anna are celebrating their 37th and 27th birthdays respectively. My plan was to “throwback” to one of their birthday parties… but the best I could do was a picture of one of my birthdays, but it features all the cousins, so it counts, right?

Happy birthday Charles and Anna, and next year I promise I’ll dig out a picture that actually was taken on your birthday!

Happy Birthday, Joshupants!

newborn-joshua-again.jpg

Four years ago today at exactly 9 a.m., my baby Joshua entered this world. He was small and warm and breathtakingly beautiful. We immediately nicknamed his “Joshupants” and we still call him that! He has brought so much joy to my life – Bobby and I don’t know what we ever did without him! He was always the sweetest baby and he is still a super-sweet boy. I am so very proud of him, and I cannot believe that four years have passed since I became his mom! I love that he is so much fun now, so smart and so hilarious, but I long for the days when he babbled and chattered and sang “Who Are the People In Your Neighborhood” all day long without embarrassment, and didn’t know that he could tell me “no” or talk back!

But time marches on…so if you will, indulge me and take a moment to go back and read, or read for the first time if you are new here, some of “Joshua’s Greatest Hits”, if you will – some of my favorite Joshua moments that I’ve blogged about!

There’s the one where he spelled a dirty word with magnetic letters (unintentionally I swear!), the one where he said my arm fat looked like, well, something very embarrassing, the one where he emptied out the mall playplace, and my personal favorite, the one where he made me throw in the towel on potty training!

Hope you all enjoy “Joshua’s Greatest Hits” – I enjoyed being there while he was making them! I can’t wait to see what else my funny boy will do. Happy Birthday Joshua, I love YOU and I love being your Mommy!
