Growing Pains

So I am estimating that I am about 7 weeks pregnant (I go to the dr. next week, we’ll see what they say) and I am already having some growing pains.  But these are more of the HUNGER PAIN variety.  I am hungry all. the. time!

In a funny ironic twist, pregnancy tiredness has contributed to me sleeping better than usual (yay!!), that is, until I am awoken around 3 a.m. with HUNGER PAINS!

A middle-of-the-night bowl of cereal is quickly becoming a staple. Lucky Charms and Chocolate Cheerios are my current faves.  I find both to be magically delicious, as chocolate = marshmallows on the tasty magical scale.  But anyhoo!

I eat my snack, and then it takes me awhile to fall back to sleep, even after my belly is satiated.

It’s a vicious cycle!

I haven’t been pregnant in four years, and I’d kind of forgotten about this.  The hunger is kind of running my life right now (which is preferable to the vomiting which will surely be running it in a couple weeks. Ergh.)  Whereas I used to pretty much skip lunch every day, my lunches are now carefully planned and greedily consumed.  As is my afternoon snack, and sometimes, my second breakfast.  Don’t be too alarmed, though, I am actually eating much HEALTHIER than usual, too!  Since I fully expect to begin puking my guts out before too long, I want to get all the healthy calories into my body that I can.  (You know, in addition to the Mountain Dew I need to function.)

So, that’s where I’m at!  My little sesame-seed baby is already eating me out of house and home.  And bed!!

  1. My brothers girlfriend, also due in December, has been violently sick for 3 weeks. She’s miserable, he’s miserable for her and I’m just glad it’s her and not me. I hope, for your sake, that the sickness totally passes you up this time around. That’s just the kind of friend I am. XOXO

P.S. – can’t wait to see the “sesame seeds” first picture!

  2. I am surprised the puking hasn’t started yet?? I hope for your sake that it has been replaced by hunger!! That is so much better then buying Zofran!!

  3. I use to raid the the frig at night and eat cheese, it was fast and easy. One thing that helped me with waking up hungry was a spoonful or a half a peanut butter sandwich right before bed. It seems to stick:) just long enough. Congratulation!

  4. I know, how in the world are you supposed to just add 150 calories to your daily eating in the first trimester when you’re SO RAVENOUSLY HUNGRY? Not that I count calories. 😉

  5. Hey Jenny!
    Congratulations on your pregnancy! 🙂
I was at Rite Aid last night at the corner of Wilmington & Patterson… my least fave Rite Aid / CVS combo, and I thought of you. The guy at the check out told me that a girl was in today with red hair and a daughter, about 5 yrs old with blond hair that saved like $130 in coupons. He said it was amazing. Oh, and it went something like this …

Cashier: ‘I might start clipping coupons”
    Me: Really, how come?
Cashier: “Well, you just saved like $30 and another woman was in today and saved $130 in coupons”
    Me: “Was her name Jenny?”
Cashier: “I don’t know, but she was about your age”
    Me: “Was she alone”
Cashier: “No, I thinks he had her daughter maybe around 5 yrs old”
    Me: “Sounds like Jenny!”
    Cashier: “Is she your friend”
    Me: “It’s a strange relationship”

Also my neighbor was with me, I’m introducing her to the drug stores and she is helping me with Meijer and Kroger. I’m pretty sure she thinks I’m nuts.
