Can a blog give you homework?
Probably not, but I’m going to anyway.
You see, yesterday, I got a manicure. Not because we were going to a fancy event this weekend or because I had a gift certificate or because it was my birthday. I got one just because I felt like it.
The other day I read this post by Audrey from Mom Generations, about her new love of dark nail polish (specifically, OPI‘s Lincoln Park After Dark).
And even though dark nail polish is totally not me and even though I hadn’t had a manicure since I had my senior pictures taken (seriously) and even though I very rarely do random things like that… I decided I wanted my nails to be that color. Immediately. So, I called and made an appointment just because I felt like it, and I am so glad I did.
I am in love with my new dark nails, and it was so fun to treat myself like that. Just because I felt like it.
So my assignment to you, my friends, is to do something this weekend just because you feel like it. Read a book, have a pumpkin spice latte (which I am totally craving), drink a glass of Halloween wine, get a manicure… do whatever. Take a few minutes to do something for yourself. It’s amazing how something small can make such a big difference!

Although I’ve only worn black nail polish once…last year on Halloween…I HIGHLY recommend the manicure…and doing something special for yourself.

LOVE LOVE LOVE that color…i actually own it and that is saying a lot because i don’t buy nail polish all that often. i bet it looks pretty on your long nails. ok, now i sound like a creepy stalker who has been watching your hands from a far. just so no one gets the wrong idea, em is one of my best friends from college.
Doing something random for myself? Oh the options….
I did just buy myself a coat. Does that count? (I did need one though)

I went out after work today with some coworkers… it was good Lori time.
My aunt happens to be a massage person, cause I can’t spell the other words I’m lookin’ for and you don’t have spell check on here!, so anywho, we are leaving to see her on Monday and we are getting massages while there! I am pumped! I am also getting a pedicure cause the 1/2 marathon did a number on my feet! That is what I call some ME time!!!

When OHmommy had her Emmy Party & I got a manicure I ended up getting Shades of Dark put on my nails-it is a deep deep purple-I LOVED it and ran out to get more. I have had my nails red the past couple of weeks to go with my costume, but now that I don’t have to have the red, I will be giving myself a manicure later today and enjoying my Shades of Dark!
This is the kind of “homework” that I love. Now why can’t teachers be like you? LOL
