Gimme a (Spring) Break, Ohio!

Today starts Spring Break for both of my big kids.  And Facebook statuses of all my other mom friends have me feeling a little guilty.  Everyone’s all “YAY, Spring Break, I can’t wait to spend quality time with my kids!” And I’m all, “Yay. Spring Break. I can’t wait to have 12 hour days with all three kids.”  Are you picking up my sarcasm?

I like it when my kids are in school. Sue me.  I live in fear of the summer.  Perhaps it is because my husband works very long hours, perhaps I am just the worst mother in the world, but I am not that excited about spring break this week.  I am excited about Thursday and Friday, when my hubby has taken the day off so that we can ALL be together!  But Monday through Wednesday, I just can’t get jazzed about!

I think maybe, just MAYBE it has something to do with the fact that THIS is the FORECAST:

So, it’s either 5 days straight in the house or 5 days straight at the mall play place, apparently.

Yee-haa.

Good thing I’ve got some new board games to review!

What are you doing (or did you already do) for spring break with your kids this year?

  1. I’m with you Jenny! I was going STIR CRAZY and tired of yelling/cleaning up after everyone! So we took day trips… Airforce Museum is free and if you have to leave cause your kids are crazy… no biggie! We also did Chuck-E-Cheese (with a coupon of course) and Boonshoft (also with a coupon)

    Good Luck!

ps I am DREADING summer too! We need year long schools! But I am blessed to have a community pool in our neighborhood that ALSO has a “kiddie” pool so I can take all four of mine and still be comfortable. Come on Over! Bring EM!

  2. Dude, do not feel bad! I’m always ready to go back to work on Monday, and I have one! One! She’s adorable, but me loves some work!

  3. Have you tried the EnterTRAINment Junction? It’s pretty decent for a rainy day……..long drive wastes some more time too! haha movies always work if you’re desperate for some peace (at least with my 3 year old it does!) or you could just go hide in a closet and hope when you come out they’ve cleaned the house, done laundry and prepped dinner! 🙂

  4. I understand how you feel! My husband commutes an hour each way so it makes for very long days at home!! But board games are fun! I can’t wait until my two are old enough to play games 🙂 Good luck!

  5. I so totally get you!! I am a working mom and my kids still drive me nuts when they are on break. I love them to death but they need school.
