Turkey, Dressing, and a side of CVS

This Thanksgiving I had the joy of being with my parents at their house in Virginia and also seeing my Uncle, Aunt & cousins that I hadn’t seen in years. We had a great time, and it was made even better by the fact that there was a CVS in the small town near my parents house. YAY! So my dad and I got to CVS right at 10 a.m. when it opened on Thanksgiving Day and I cleaned up! I won’t bore you with the dirty details, but I did three transactions and got all this, about $75 worth of stuff:

CVStgiving

for about $6 out-of-pocket. I started with $14.99 in ExtraCare Bucks and I ended up with $39 ECBs. Yeeehaaa! (I am *trying* not to be sad about the fact that I could have made much more $$ if I had been at home with my regular CVS peeps, because they accept competitors coupons!) The CVS employees here in Virginia were really sweet and seemed to be impressed with my savings.

I went back the next day and used some of my earned ECB stash to get toys for the kiddos to play with here. Good times!

That’s it for me, I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving!

  1. I found that people in other CVSs that I go to when I am traveling get extremely OVERWHELMED when they have a couponer who knows how to work the system. For example, apparantly people in Chicago don’t know how to play the CVS game. I’m glad that you were able to impress the VA CVS employees.

  2. I am amazed at how “in to” all of the couponing your Dad and your brothers are. I know for a fact that my Dad nor my brother has EVER used a coupon. Maybe that explains my lack of understanding in that whole area.
You are fawesome(I know you know what that means!) and I miss you.

  3. I love shopping CVS, but I didn’t get a chance to go for Thanksgiving or any of the Black Friday sales. That is so not like me, but I have been so busy lately it wasn’t possible. I guess I will have to live vicariously through your purchases.

  4. my DH and I hit CVS on Thanksgiving Day too. Our store opened at 8:00 and we were there a few minutes after. We both had just 15 ECB’s on our card, and now we have 54 and 48, respectively. I did two deals and spent only 2 cents out of pocket (I had a gift card to use). It was a great trip!

  5. I heart CVS! I was going to be one of the “crazy shoppers” and arrive at my 24 hour CVS around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday night to get my deals and be one of the first to cross the check-out line at 12:01 a.m….but I just couldn’t convince myself that getting another free toothpaste or shampoo was quite worth it. I had to be somewhere for work Thanksgiving morning (yes, that’s right), so I didn’t make it to CVS until around 10 a.m. BUT, everything I wanted was still there – yes! It was meant to be.

(But now I have over $45 ECB’s and the ad this week was horrible – what’s a girl to do??)
